His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, made a private visit to the Gulf Coast region of the United States on April 29-30 to review the progress of the Qatar Katrina Fund. During his private tour of the region, His Highness met with former President George H.W. Bush, co-chair of the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund. His Highness also met with local project partners and received briefings from New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour and Lt. General Robert Van Antwerp, Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
