Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating poverty and homelessness around the world. In response to Hurricane Katrina, Habitat for Humanity launched "Operation Home Delivery" to provide homes for hurricane victims in the hardest hit communities of the Gulf Coast. The Qatar Katrina Fund provided a $22 million grant to the "Operation Home Delivery" initiative to support the long-term recovery of the region and to build nearly 300 new homes. With Habitat's no-profit, no-interest loans, and houses built primarily by volunteers, home ownership has become a reality for many Katrina victims.
