The Children's Hospital of New Orleans established five "Kids First Clinics" to provide primary care for low-income children in underserved areas of the city. Many families in these neighborhoods do not have access to primary care, and these clinics provide a valuable medical resource to the community. During Hurricane Katrina, three of the clinics were destroyed by flooding, and the two remaining clinics suffered significant damage. The Qatar Katrina Fund gift helped repair, expand and equip the two remaining clinics to support children in New Orleans.

RESULTS
  • Repaired and reopened two primary care children's clinics in low-income neighborhoods heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
  • Provided 18,282 patient visits to children at these two clinics.
