The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast (BGCGC) is a non-profit organization on the Mississippi Gulf Coast providing programs and activities for children, families and communities in need. During Hurricane Katrina, all the Boys and Girls Clubs along the Mississippi Gulf Coast were destroyed.

The storm hit Pass Christian, Mississippi with a tidal surge of up to 30 feet and destroyed eighty percent of the town, including three school facilities and the BGCGC youth community center. With support from the Qatar Katrina Fund, the BGCGC is rebuilding the Pass Christian youth center on property that also will house the new elementary and middle schools, providing a place where people from across the community can come together.

RESULTS
  • Built and opened a new state-of-the-art youth community center that serves over 1,300 young people each year.
"I am excited to be a member of a club that will have a game room, basketball court, a kid's kitchen and many other things that kids like me enjoy. We will have our own space to call our own. When we move into our new club I will be even more proud to be a part of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast." -Khari J. Stallworth, age 14, Club Member from Pass Christian, Mississippi
